Former Lionhead producer slams Microsoft
Former Lionhead Studios producer Daniel Gray criticised Microsoft on Twitter after hearing the news that it is to shutter his former workplace.
Former Lionhead Studios producer Daniel Gray criticised Microsoft and its record with first party studios on Twitter.
Reacting to the news that Microsoft is likely to close Lionhead, Gray tweeted, "Really sad to hear the news about Lionhead. Microsoft really are the destroyer of first party studios. Seven years ago was a different story."
Microsoft announced that it is cancelling Fable Legends and added that Lionhead is probably going to close its doors too.
Gray even went so far as to joke that Microsoft likely has an executioner waiting in the wings for the inevitable day that Microsoft will shutter a first party studio. "I imagine there’s a “first party studios” executioner that waits in Redmond until the day of reckoning," he wrote.
Fable Legends' beta will remain playable until April 13th, but no new players will get access to the beta. Gold purchases have been disabled and those who have previously purchased gold will get a full refund.
Microsoft's Hanno Lemke yesterday said that the studio will continue "to focus its investment and development on the games and franchises that fans find most exciting to play."
