First 30 minutes of Homeworld Deserts of Kharak

Paul Mallon

The Homeworld series is coming down to Earth with a new game that tells the story of what happened before the fleet embarked

For PC gamers of a certain vintage, Homeworld is a name that is held in awe. The game released back in 1999 and brought real time combat in deep space to life, with incredible graphics and dense gameplay. It was super neat, and you just can't imagine today how amazing it looked 17 years ago...

Homeworld and its sequel recently got a spit and polish remaster but it's time for new stories in this universe. It's time for Deserts of Kharak.

This new title is a prequel to the first game, telling the story of a journey to investigate a mysterious object, the original anomaly, in the great deserts of an alien planet. What starts out at a simple mission becomes a matter of life and death when a series of attacks leaves your small group utterly alone against a sea of enemies.

IGN has the first 30 minutes of Deserts of Kharak, kicking off with some gorgeous rotoscoped cutscenes. This time, the action is all on the ground. Enjoy.

The art looks amazing and there's going to be plenty of depth for fans of real time strategy titles. This game is only coming to PC for the moment and launches on the 20th of January 2016.
