Facebook adds Photo Magic to Messenger

Emma Clark

Facebook has added the Photo Magic tool to Messenger for all users, and made the app a little more customisable all round.

Facebook has made Photo Magic available to all Messenger users. The feature makes the process of sharing photos with friends much simpler as it can instantly share it with all those identified.

Using facial recognition, Photo Magic scans a photo for Facebook friends, and then offers to send the photo to those recognised as being in the photo. That may put an end to using a bunch of different smartphones to take almost identical photos.

Photo Magic can be turned off if you don't fancy Facebook scanning your photos or if you get tired of the sharing recommendations.

Facebook also today announced a range of customisation options for Messenger. You can now tweak everything from the colour of your Messenger thread chat to the names of your contacts and emoji.

There are a few seasonal tweaks and features to enjoy. And Photo Magic will make it quicker to share photos with friends at a time when many pictures will be taken. Find out more about these new features on Facebook's blog.
