French start-up Immersit showed off its furniture add-on at CES 2016 that is set to make movies and games come to life, especially if used with VR headsets.

As if virtual reality wasn’t going to be immersive enough, Immersit demonstrated a furniture add-on that will add a bit more to any movie viewing or gaming session.

It can be used with any standard couch or chair and reacts to the on-screen action. You’ll feel the impact of acceleration and braking in racing games, while action films come to life as your chair shakes and shifts based on what’s happening.

Using Immersit’s furniture add-on with a virtual reality headset will naturally be a more immersive experience, but it’s not a necessity.

We’ve seen videos of people being blown away while using a VR headset that shows them riding a rollercoaster. Imagine what the reaction will be when their chair also shakes and vibrates as they strap themselves into such an experience.

Immersit hasn’t said how much this piece of technology will cost just yet. The company hopes to release it this year.
