Be John Wick in new virtual reality experience
A virtual reality experience from Lionsgate and Wevr will let you explore the Continental as John Wick in scenes familiar to those who've seen the film.
Fans of John Wick will soon be able to explore the Continental Hotel from the movie thanks to a partnership between Lionsgate and VR startup Wevr.
The experience uses the HTC Vive headset to let you see through Wick’s eyes, while the pair of handheld controllers let you interact with the world. You can move about freely in a 10-by-10 space and you’ll even be able to crawl around, which may be necessary when bullets start flying.
As part of the experience, you’ll have to figure out how to "bribe the concierge, pick up dubious clues, and finally dodge bullets as someone breaks the Continental’s code of conduct and attacks their hotel room."
As the virtual reality market is only finding its feet, the experience is limited to demos and roadshows. However, Lionsgate president of interactive ventures and games Peter Levin highlighted how immersive virtual reality can be. “It just immediately sucks you into a very discreet world," he said.
Lionsgate is currently hard at work on the sequel, having announced it earlier this year. Keanu Reeves is back on board, while Oscar winner Common is set to play the villain of the piece.
