Apple CEO says VR has 'some interesting applications'

Apple CEO Tim Cook was asked about VR during Apple's quarterly earnings conference call and admitted that it has some interesting applications.

Apple CEO Tim Cook headed up the company’s quarterly earnings conference call and was asked about virtual reality.

He responded, "In terms of VR, I don't think it's a niche. It's really cool and has some interesting applications." That’s far from confirmation that Apple has plans for VR, but it could happen.

Apple has made some hires and acquisitions of late that indicate that it may have something up its sleeves. But don’t expect to hear anything official until Apple is good and ready. What you can expect is for Apple employees to be asked quite a bit about future plans until they come out with something.

Apple is also rumoured to be working on a self-driving car, so virtual reality might be put on the backburner for the moment. Perhaps we’ll hear more about Apple’s plans for autonomous vehicles or VR later this year.
