Science Foundation Ireland releases €47m in research funding
OVER 200 scientists will receive €47m in research funding over the next five years.
The funding, from the Department of Enterprise, targets projects that have the potential to bring economic benefits to the economy.
More than 200 people submitted ideas that were reviewed by 400 international scientists.
The research focuses on a range of areas for health to ICT.
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton said the funding would help attract foreign direct investment, and also support 62 private sector companies.
SFI Director General Professor Mark Ferguson also said it would lead to more links between research and industry.
