Review: the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8 at a price of €400

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8

Most manufacturers have simply given up trying to compete with Apple's iPads in the 'premium' tablet category. Not Samsung.

Its latest tablet is the Tab S, which comes in both an 8-inch and 10-inch version. My trial 8-inch model performed well on a number of fronts.

It had an excellent screen, loads of power and was slim and light enough to easily hold in one hand for reading. But negatives included software and apps you will never use and a battery that drained faster than I expected. Also, aside from Netflix and games, Android tablet apps aren't as well made as iPad apps.

Buy it for slimness but not for overall utility.
