Paddy Power turns to Facebook and Twitter for next money spinner
Paddy Power is laying odds that Facebook could be its next big money spinner.
The gambling group announced this morning that it’s launching its first product to offer “real money” sports betting on the social network.
The group said a beta version of the betting platform – which is initially only available to desktop computer users in the UK – is currently being trialled and will be launched in coming weeks.
“The app will add social engagement to online betting, enabling customers to bet on a wide variety of sporting events through Facebook, while also giving them visibility of, and the opportunity to engage with, other users. Player participation will be subject to strict age verification checks,” said Paddy Power.
Peter O'Donovan, managing director of Paddy Power Online claimed the launch the group’s e-commerce and technology capabilities.
Paddy Power already closely monitors sites such as Facebook and Twitter to determine how much it’s being talked about by consumers and to determine how effective marketing campaigns are.
The new games were developed by Paddy Power’s games development team in Bulgaria.
