Online business will not wipe out well-known department stores, according to 'La Dress' fashion designer Simone Van Trojen.
n the week that the iconic Clerys shut its doors, the entrepreneur, who is now selling in high-end department stores in 27 countries worldwide after setting up her dress company online, says her customer trends point to a synergy between the two.
"I really believe that the future of shopping is a combination of both. I started online and the first five years was about developing the website, and really from day one, it started to grow.
"I think there are a lot of women now who love to buy online because it's easy, it's available for 24 hours a day, you can shop wherever you are and we send out a square of the fabric, so women can see and feel it for themselves before buying a dress.
"On the other hand, there are other women who want the full shopping experience of fun on a Thursday evening or on a Saturday, where they can actually go in store and look around the shop. So I believe online and department store shopping now works hand in hand," said Ms Van Trojen as she introduced her range at Brown Thomas.
