Has Google's love affair with Dublin cooled?

Concern is brewing in Irish tech circles that Google has not built a Google Campus in Dublin similar to the ground-breaking innovation hub it has set up in other major cities.

Sources said the failure to establish a Google Campus in Dublin, the company's designated European and Middle East HQ, indicates that its commitment to Ireland is not as clear-cut as once thought.

Google Campuses in place or under way in London, Tel Aviv, Sao Paulo and Warsaw are aimed at accelerating start-up firms.

Industry sources also point to large-scale investments in European cities other than Dublin.

The world's largest search engine recently selected London for its European venture capital unit. It set aside $100m for the fund to invest in fledgling European businesses. Google Ventures until now was solely focused on such Silicon Valley businesses as taxi app Uber.
