Engineers at a Polish start-up have crammed an entire computer into the tiny space inside a mouse, and are now looking for help to bring it to market.

The makers of the device claim that it’s the next step in the evolution of the PC, one which “should have been made a long time ago”.

“The computer industry needs freshness and Mouse-Box has got plenty of it,” says the Mouse-Box website.

Somehow, inside the snazzy red mouse is 128GB of storage, Wi-Fi, a micro HDMI port to connect to a monitor or projector and a four-core 1.4GHz processor from UK-based ARM.

It also has an accelerometer and a gyroscope.

In terms of battery, you get an inductive mouse pad which provides power when the mouse is resting on top. This can either power it directly, or charge-up an optional battery.

The makers suggest that it could be used at work, where using your own PC is forbidden: a video on the website shows a worker using it to look at Facebook, before switching back to his work PC when his boss walks by.

It is also shows it being used to make presentations, by plugging it directly into a projector.

As a final suggestion, clutching at straws, the narrator suggests it could even save space in your home.

Przemyslaw Strzelczyk, the team leader of the design group, said: “We’ve changed the thinking about personal computers. From now nothing will be the same. The Mouse-Box is a revolutionary device; it connects the most important things in the IT industry. You will always have the PC in your hand, even at work. The only problem you will have to cope with it is what hand you are going to use.”

The developers of the prototype are now seeking commercial partners to help them create a viable product.
