Meteor and eir customers left frustrated as mobile coverage fails

Mobile customers with eir and Meteor were left without service in the last 36 hours.

Some 2G and 3G users experienced "a temporary loss of service" as a result of the outage on Wednesday afternoon.

A spokesperson for eir said that the outage impacted around 30pc of the 2G and 3G sites countrywide.

It is understood that customers in the West and the Midlands were the most affected.

"This service interruption took place at 2.30pm and service was restored at 5pm," the spokesperson told

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers."
