Virgin Media broadband customers report widespread service disruption
Virgin Media Ireland attempted to deal with a mass disruption to its service after connection failures were reported countrywide.
The company’s social media account was plagued with complaints from Irish service users for a number of hours on Tuesday night.
Customers complained about broadband failure affecting TV, internet and mobile services.
Virgin Media Ireland released a statement at 10.19pm, stating: “We know a number of our BB Customers are experiencing a break in service, a fix is currently underway”.
Following the statement, one customer retorted saying that “the entire country” was experiencing problems, to which a spokesman for the company said “You are quite right”.
When contacted by Independent.ie the company added: "We are aware that some customers got in touch regarding their broadband service late last night. Service has been restored and we apologise for the inconvenience."
Update: Our phone and broadband services are still offline. Our engineers are working on getting services back online. Next update 00:00— Virgin Media Ireland (@VirginMediaIE) December 6, 2016
