AMAZON is creating a new virtual reality platform, according to a job advertised on GlassDoor.

The posting on the employer evaluation site, which was spotted by UploadVR, is looking for a senior software development manager to head up a new virtual reality team.

It doesn't explain exactly what the successful candidate would do but the posting stated that the person would be responsible for "building the Virtual Reality experience within Amazon Video."

Amazon added this would include "an ingestion and playback platform for virtual reality experiences" which could operate like its competitors' platforms — for example, Netflix already a virtual reality app for Samsung's Gear VR headset.

The retail giant also said it is targeting full 3D experiences. "The future will not be limited to passive 2D experiences," the posting stated. "The Virtual Reality team will explore and create the platform and interface for immersive storytelling."
