The OnePlus 3 smartphone was arguably the best midrange phone of 2016. The OnePlus 3T betters its predecessor - there simply isn't a better phone you can get for under €500.

Start with its design: this is the slickest-looking Android phone currently on the market. It's beautiful, thin and really easy to manoeuvre, despite its large bright, high-resolution 5.5-inch display.

For many, the battery is its trump card. With a massive 3,400mAh battery inside, this really did last me a full day with quite a lot of use. The phone has fairly unrivalled power, too: a whopping 6GB of Ram to back up its quad core processor. Everything zips along at top speed.

The 16-megapixel rear camera is excellent, if a touch off the very best on the market (the iPhone 7, Samsung S7 and Huawei P9). OnePlus gives you a 16-megapixel selfie-camera too - the highest resolution selfie lens on the market. Video is 1080p HD instead of UHD/4K, although this isn't yet a handicap. The fingerprint sensor works incredibly quickly and is on the front rather than the rear of the phone.

Mostly, this is a fun, compelling phone to use. It really is the best below the top iPhones and Samsungs.
