Bose headphones are the equivalent of a BMW: while not always being best in class, they fit the bill for anyone over 40 who is looking for decent, upscale equipment. But like most middle-aged choices, there's a solid foundation for these travel-friendly QuietComfort 25 cans.

The noise-cancelling feature - powered by a single AAA battery - supplements typically good audio quality from these headphones.

While they're optimised for iPhones and iPads (another staple of the middle-aged traveller), the cable lead's controls and microphone also work with most leading Android handsets.

They're fairly comfortable, too, which is a decent achievement considering they fold up for easy transportation when you're travelling. The nice leather used also helps. They even come with a posh little Bose bag.
