2011 eircom Spider Awards open for nominations

The annual search begins today for Ireland’s best and brightest online, with a call for entries to the eircom Spider Awards 2011.

The eircom Spider Awards celebrate high achievement in digital creativity and innovation.

Each year they recognise and reward brands, organisations, agencies and individuals who truly innovate, embrace new technologies and exceed expectations in the online environment.

This year’s awards will take place on Thursday, 10th November 2011 in Dublin’s Convention Centre.

In total, there are twenty categories at this year’s eircom Spider Awards, each designed to recognise and promote business and communities through technological advancements, innovation and e-commerce.

Again this year the awards will include awards for Digital Editor, Best Mobile App and the always popular Big Mouth Award.

The Big Mouth Award acknowledges the most influential voice in Irish Internet and digital media.

This award differs from the conventional nomination process, allowing the public to nominate and comprise a shortlist of “Big Mouths”.

Nominees may include active bloggers, online journalists, or other relevant mediums covering topics such as business, charity, culture or politics.

Chairman of the judging panel and group managing director of consumer and small business, eircom, Mr Stephen Beynon commented, “eircom has a long standing relationship with the Spider Awards and we’re delighted to support them again this year. The eircom Spider Awards play an important role in showcasing the best of the Internet. They provide an opportunity to recognise and reward excellence and innovation but they also allow us to highlight emerging trends and future potential growth sectors within the online community. Each year the judges are bowled over by the great work in the online world and I expect this year will be no different”.
