Watch: Dublin airport hangar transforms into music venue for the very first time - and Liam Gallagher headlines this Sunday
The summer festival season may be just a distant memory but Samhain is on this weekend - and it's offering something completely different.
Dublin's Weston Airport is hosting the boutique two-day Halloween event - and the team on the ground have transformed one of its 4000 sq m hangars into a unique venue that can cater for up to 5,000 revellers.
The fancy-dress concert is the first time this airport space has been used in such a way.
Irish DJ and presenter Annie Mac headlines on Saturday 28 while former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher takes centre stage on Sunday 29.
The Mancunian rockstar has also just announced an open-air summer concert in Dublin's Malahide Castle next June.
The impressive Samhain line-up also includes artists such as 2manydjs, The Strypes, Eats Everything, Mele, Kelly Ann Bryne and TOUTS.
Dublin Weston organiser Michael Callaghan told independent.ie that the music celebration will hopefully be the start of many more events at the venue.
"We've had successful events with Ford, Audi, among others so we have established a solid foundation for hosting events and want to pursue more in the future," he said.
Managing Director of Weston Airport Aidan Fox said that the team have worked steadily from early on Thursday morning to get the venue ready for the weekend gig.
"This hangar was completely bare at 7am, and within 24 hours, these lads have built a stage, a marquee, beer tents - establishing a top notch venue for concert goers," he said.
Mr Fox said that there are a number of car spaces available at the site, which is 20 minutes from the city centre, but a dedicated shuttle service is also being laid on.
Promoters MCD have said that there are a limited number of tickets left for the Saturday night concert, but Sunday night is completely sold out.
