Bank of Ireland has said business lending could return to pre-Covid levels by the end of the year.

In an interview with the Sunday Independent, Bank of Ireland’s newly-appointed director of business banking John O’Beirne said it had experienced a “strong recovery”. He said lending had hit €1.4bn as of June this year, up 16pc on 2020, with the current trajectory suggesting it could hit 2019 levels by the end of the year as various sectors reopen.
