SME blasts its way to national award success

Businesses from Offaly, Kildare, Limerick and Fingal picked up prizes at last night's gala National Enterprise Awards.

Thirteen awards were presented in total, along with €40,000 in funding, on offer through the Local Enterprise Offices.

Blast machine manufacturer Applied Concepts, from Kinnitty, Co Offaly was the overall winner.

It was set-up by Mark Clendennen and supported by Local Enterprise Office Offaly.

The business has been trading since 2010 and employs ten people.

Its machines are used in building and restoration projects in countries such as Finland, Estonia, Venezuela and Ethiopia.

Other major category winners were CarveOn from Kildare (Best Exporter), Global Sauces from Limerick (Best Start-Up) and Invizbox Ltd from Fingal in Dublin (Innovation Award).

Awards were presented at the Aviva Stadium by Jobs Minister Mary Mitchell O'Connor.
