Irish-owned Zahra Publishing and Eumom in merger
Irish-owned independent publisher Zahra Publishing and Eumom, an Irish online parenting community website, have merged.
The newly merged entity called Zahra Media Group will create digital, email, social, print, event and experiential touchpoints for brands through the pooling of both company’s channels.
Gina Militiadou and John Mullins, co-founders of Zahra Publishing, whose publications include Easy Food and Easy Parenting, will remain part of the Zahra management team, joined by Annette Burns Young and Olive Fogarty of Eumom.
The merger did not involve any financial transaction, however the management team will all have equity in the merged entity.
The current annual revenue of the two companies combined is just over €4m, and the merged entity has put a strategic plan in place to increase revenue to €5m by 2020.

In announcing the merger Zahra has also announced plans to recruit between five and ten people in the areas of content creation and business development over the next few months.
In addition Zahra has said that it will spend €150,000 to build a state-of-the-art studio to meet the increased demand for high quality branded video content and imagery.
The studio will open in early 2018.
As a result of the synergies created by the merger, the firm plans to increase market share in the UK, Australian and South African markets where Zahra already has a small footprint.
"Zahra’s publication business already has 33pc of the food magazine market and 40pc of the parenting magazine market [in Ireland] so the addition of Eumom’s incredibly engaged opted-in community of over 175,000 creates a powerful force," Gina Miliatadou, MD of Zahra Media Group said.
Ms Miliatadou went on to say that the merger was a "natural fit" for both companies, "we are looking forward to growing our footprint and the range of services we can offer to brands in Ireland," she said.
Speaking on behalf of Eumom, Annette Burns Young, who will hold the position of strategic growth director in the newly merged entity, described the merger as "an ideal opportunity" for Eumom’s to extend the journey it is on with mums and present them with useful content that works for their lifestyles.
