IBEC appoints new director of communications

IBEC director general Danny McCoy today announced the appointment of Majella Fitzpatrick as director of communications with responsibility for corporate reputation, public affairs, internal and external communications and marketing.

Majella will take up the position with immediate effect and joins IBEC’s executive management team.

Majella has 20 years experience in corporate communications and public affairs with some of Ireland’s largest blue chip companies.

Prior to the new appointment she was head of corporate affairs for Telefonica O2 Ireland where she was responsible for public affairs, public relations and corporate responsibility.

During her time with O2 the company was acquired by Spanish telecommunications giant Telefonica and was voted the best company to work for.

Before joining O2 Majella was head of public relations for eircom during the initial flotation of the company, the rebranding of Telecom Eireann to eircom, the sale of Eircell to Vodafone and several ownership transactions.

Prior to eircom she spent a number of years working with public relations agencies specialising in agribusiness and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG).

Most recently, Majella worked on the Leader’s Tour with Enda Kenny where she advised on communications strategy and managed media relations during the election campaign.
