Founded 26 years ago Irish luxury corporate gifting business Hampers & Co is an expert in its field, and yet prior to establishing the company, its managing director Emer Purcell found herself in a very different field...the horse training field!

Before setting up Hampers & Co in 1993 Ms Purcell worked as a horse racing trainer in Ireland, as well as an assistance horse racing trainer in California.

Today she admits that she has witnessed a lot of changes in the gifting industry over the years, for example this year she has seen online orders overtake phone or catalogue orders for the first time in 26 years.

"Business has been growing rapidly over the past three years and companies have firmly returned to gifting their employees, clients or customers. So far this year we have received about 30pc of our Christmas orders, which is slightly up for this time of year, the difference is the majority of those orders were placed online," Ms Purcell says.

"This is a big shift to digital engagement between ourselves and our customers."

Production of the gifts has already commenced at Ms Purcell’s facility in Tipperary, where the number of people employed by the company has risen to more than 38 during the peak season.

The hampers on offer reflect the Tipperary heritage of Ms Purcell and include artisan ranges from award winning Tipperary producers including Florrie Purcell from The Scullery, Breda Maher from Cooleeney Farm Cheeses, as well as products from Crossogue Preserves, Lough Derg Chocolates and Tipperary Crystal.
