Ryan heiress puts €2m into luxury brands group

Entrepreneur and Ryan dynasty heiress Danielle Ryan and husband Richard Bourke ploughed €1.3m in loans into their Roads Luxury lifestyle brand group last year.

The additional €1.3m in loans brings to €2.37m the amount Ms Ryan and her lawyer husband have advanced in loans to the group made up of three companies specialising in fragrances, entertainment and publishing. The businesses were established in 2013 and the three firms continued in their startup phase last year where losses are usually anticipated.

The new accounts filed by Roads Luxury Group Ltd show that all three subsidiaries continued to incur losses in 2014.

Ms Ryan is granddaughter of founder of Ryanair Tony Ryan and inherited a good slice of a €250m fortune at the age of 26. The accounts show that Roads Fragrance Ltd incurred losses of €517,785 last year. Roads Publishing Ltd recorded losses of €159,695, and Roads Entertainment Ltd recorded losses of €140,410.

Ms Ryan trained to act at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). In the company return, Ms Ryan - who owns the business - confirms that her occupation as an actor.

The 32-year-old has based the business in Dublin and the combined losses from the three Roads subsidiaries in 2014 amount to €817,890. Ms Ryan took no pay from the group last year.

The three firms had combined shareholders' deficit of €1.86m. The firms' current offering includes niche eau de parfums, high-end books specialising in art, photography and culture, and a film production company.
