Workers want a greater say in pension planning - survey
Self-managed pensions are set to play an increasingly vital role in future retirement planning in Ireland.
A survey of members of the Association of Pension Trustees in Ireland (APTI) found there was now a growing demand among workers for a greater say in their pension planning and enhanced transparency over investment choice and fees.
The group caters for 22,000 pension clients.
The research found that APTI members now manage pension assets in excess of €7.7bn.
Under their structure, APTI members can offer its clients full or partial control over their pension investment strategy.
"In an era where there are increasing concerns about the inadequacy of pensions coverage, APTI is delighted with the level and success of client engagement which we believe is due in significant part to the investment choice, transparency of fees and control over the direction of their pensions which clients of APTI members enjoy," a spokesperson said.
