'Better cover, and three of the kids are free - we save €363'
Sinéad Curran and her husband Stephen switched their health insurance provider to Laya Healthcare at the start of 2018 and so far are very pleased with the cover they are being offered.
Sinéad made the change for her family to Laya's Essential Health 300, saving €363.01 with improved cover and benefits, attracted by the offer of only having to buy insurance for one of her four children - Conor (6), Sianna (4), and twins Tommy and Lauren (1) - to cover all of them.
"The main reason was the offer they were running - if you buy for one child you get the rest free," she explains.
Previously the Curran family, from Portmagee, Co Kerry were with Irish Life.
"In fairness it wasn't too bad but the previous year they had run an offer like Laya had. They had get two children, get the second two half-price," says Sinéad.
However, when compared to Laya's deal, their previous insurance rate was being pushed up by the children and ultimately, the change meant Sinéad now saves roughly €60 a month, as well as getting a higher amount of cover for herself.
"We are all on the same cover now, while before I had less cover. Laya offered us all the same cover and I felt it was a better deal."
Their new package includes overseas cover, and while the twins are "very busy" according to Sinéad, the family are hoping they will be able to get away to the sun at some stage too.
The deal also provides them with better public and private cover, as well as better orthopaedic, special cardiac and scan cover.
Overall, they are "delighted" with their move, and found the whole thing very easy.
