Permission sought for 1,000 homes
Permission for more than 1,000 homes and 3,000 student bed spaces has been lodged with An Bord Pleanála under a fast-track planning process.
The planning appeals board will decide by next February if almost 930 homes in Dublin, more than 100 in Galway and 3,006 student bed spaces at UCD can go ahead. It comes after new legislation introduced last July allowed for housing developments of more than 100 residential units and more than 200 student bed spaces to be made directly to the board, bypassing the local authorities.
New figures show 22 valid requests for pre-applications have been made, with three formally lodged. The 22 requests relate to proposed developments across the country, and include up to 3,559 houses, 2,389 apartments and 4,978 student bed spaces.
