'The Oh My God Delusion'

If you want to get an insight into how the Irish economy got into the state that it's in then there's no better overview than Wasters by Shane Ross and Nick Webb of this parish.

However, if you want to get an overview of the sort of Celtic Tiger cub that the boom produced, then the latest Ross O'Carroll-Kelly book The Oh My God Delusion is what you need.

Paul Howard's books have managed to satirise the delusion of the past decade while still being side-achingly funny, for far longer than anyone thought he would be able to stretch it. Not even Ross is immune to the effect of the recession, however -- and when he remarks that "It's like the Noughties never happened", he hits the nail on the head.
