Supplier Flogas joins rivals with energy-bill hike

ALL four suppliers of gas to households will increase their prices next month, after Flogas said it will charge more.

And with experts predicting electricity prices will also go up, families are set to see energy bills soar.

Flogas said it will charge residential customers an extra 1.95pc from October 7 – a similar rise to other operators.

The move will mean its 32,000 Flogas customers will see prices rise by €18 at the end of the first week in October.

This is just a week after gas prices go up at Bord Gais, Electric Ireland and Airtricity.

Average annual bills for the 600,000-plus households with domestic gas will now be close €1,000.

Eoin Clarke, of price comparison site uSwitch.ie, said there was a gap of more than €254 between the cheapest and most expensive gas tariffs on the market. "Now is the best time to make a move and ensure you are not wasting money this winter," Mr Clarke said.
