Dublin hotels on All-Ireland Football Final weekend

While hotels on Dublin's southside are often overpriced compared to their northside counterparts, when it comes to the weekend of the All-Ireland Football Final, all bets are off. Just a fortnight ago we saved Make Me Richer readers €400 for a three-night stay over the All-Ireland Hurling Final weekend -- and this week we've saved them almost €700 if they're willing to take the short taxi-ride from Croke Park to Ballsbridge after their side exhilarates (or disappoints) in this year's final. Of course, Dubs fans can just catch the last bus home.

Student overdrafts

As universities prepare to reopen next month, a new batch of young college students are preparing to learn first-hand what budgeting is all about -- a practical course that many fail the first time around. The penalties for an authorised overdraft on one of the many student accounts on the market can quickly mount up and the lesson can be an expensive one. Thankfully AIB's Student Plus account offers 0pc interest on authorised overdrafts up to €1,500, which could save a careless student a packet.

Best AIB Student Plus no interest on €1,500 overdraft for a year

Avoid PTSB Student Account €123 interest on similar overdraft

iPhone 4 on bill pay

It's almost as if the phone companies revel in confusing us -- between the 'on network' talk bundles, the 'off network' text bundles and now the flexi-units, it's little wonder that finding the best deal on offer from mobile phone providers is so hard to figure out. If you want an iPhone 4 on bill pay and you don't want to pay more than €40 a month, the best offer is from 3, who will give you a 16GB iPhone 4 for free when you sign up for 24 months.

The CAO offers will be sent out next week and those who completed their Leaving Cert this year will find out where they'll be spending the next three to four years. As always Dublin will be the most expensive destination for students to live in, but given the plethora of colleges and universities in the capital it will be the number one destination for most. We searched for contents insurance on a one-bedroom flat in Dublin city centre -- best to get your belongings covered as most landlords won't insure contents.
