Sinead Ryan looks at some of the best deals to help you spend your Christmas cash and vouchers
Some people may be shopped out already, but this week is still the busiest of the year for stores as others descend with hardened zeal for the sales. Both online and on-street, they've already begun, with the biggest discounts being saved for after Christmas.
This week I'm looking at some bargains around town, so you can get a head start. Most store sales get going on St Stephen's Day, but a number have online bargains on Christmas Day if you get bored of pulling crackers - the panel shows you when, so there's nothing stopping you!
The grand dame of department stores has up to 50pc off across all sections. A gorgeous Kate Spade glitterbug clutch is €136.50, down from €228. A Michael Kors Hamilton satchel was €285, now €199.50, while a FeeG crochet dress at €305 is now €213. In kitchenware, a Le Creuset starter set (above) was €275, now €126.95. The Kenwood KMix Mixer was €499.95, now €199.95.
The luxury household brand opened its 12th branch in Dunboyne, Co Meath, this year. Their sale includes discounts of up to 60pc. In womenswear, AW17 items are discounted to half price, as is kitchenware.
A scarlet hoodie rain mac was €99.95, now €80; a blue linen scarf is down from €49.95 to €25, while a lovely matisse blue shirtdress from Samsoe & Samsoe which was €249.95 is now €125.00. Gorgeous boxed leather gloves are 50pc off, now just €40, down from €79.95. On the homeware side, a lovely Julien table lamp (pictured above) was €169.95 and is now just €85, with decorative furniture up to 50pc off.
Marks & Spencer
M&S will be discounting across the board by 50pc on categories such as handbags, accessories, jewellery, kids footwear and gifts and toys. Beauty products like cosmetics and skincare are also included.
The Irish chain now has 36 branches around the country and isn't waiting until the New Year to kick off its sale. Both in store and online bargains are discounted, with 25pc off selected items, including the Soul Accessories Clara Clutch, down from €24.95 to €18.71, Kelly & Grace faux fur shawl (pictured above) is now €52.46, down from €69.95 and, for gifts, a Circa lamp which was €89.95 is now €69.96, with a Swarovski crystal rose pendant at €23.97 from €39.95. A Pala D'oro fur trim button coat in pink was €149.95, now €69.95.
The mecca to luxe will have its usual sale of high end items from St Stephen's Day, but is bucking the trend by starting its online sale 12 hours after it goes live in store.
It's coy on specific offers but says discounts of up to 50pc will apply across all departments.
The department store hasn't wasted time getting a good sale underway online. There's up to 50pc off clothing, including a ChiChi blue lace trim dress, now €30 from €100. An RJR John Rocha grey floral midi dress is now half price at €44, while a J by Jasper Conran pink stripe dress is also down to €44 from €80.
On the homeware side, a top of the range De Longhi Autentica coffee maker, which was a whopping €700, is now just €385. If you've piled on the pounds over Christmas, get a Fitbit Charge 2, now €154 from €199.
The furniture retailer always has a good sale and it starts across its 15 stores online before in store. Among its offers will be an 'Oscar' 7-pce dining set (pictured below) at €799, down from €1,293. There will be €650 off mattresses and mattress toppers are all half price.
The 'Danny' 3-seater sofa was €499, now €399, while the Zinc corner sofa is €999, from €1,499.
