KBC Bank Ireland has revealed that 95pc of all homeowners, and 73pc of all adults have taken out an insurance policy on their home, in a new survey.

With an average policy hitting €337 per annum, the study found that premiums and policy values of home insurance were almost the same across the country.

Understandably, price was found to be a huge factor when it came to choosing policy and provider of home insurance – with 4 in 5 Irish homeowners comparing quotes before taking out the policy.

Speaking after the publication of the Study, KBC Bank Ireland Executive Director and Head of Retail Banking, Dara Deegan, said that insurance is a central priority for Irish mortgage holders.

“The results from this research show encouraging statistics for the home insurance market,” she said.

“With the average value of contents in an insured home being €43,000, it is no surprise that 96pc of home insurance policies include contents insurance.”
