Watch: Niamh Horan and Brendan O'Connor star in Sunday Independent Christmas TV ad
Top writers wish viewers - and readers - a 'Merry Christmas' in the festive commercial
Well-known writers from Ireland's leading Sunday newspaper feature in a new television advertisement that airs over the Christmas season.
Eight Sunday Independent writers feature in the 30 second ad thanking the paper's readers
Niamh Horan kicks off the festive commercial with a stroll through George’s Street Arcade - setting the scene for the other established names to follow.
Filmed over the past three weeks, the small clip also features Gene Kerrigan and Jody Corcoran walking down Molesworth Street, Ciara Kelly enjoying a brisk walk in St. Stephen’s Green, and Rachel Allen strolling down a country lane at Ballymaloe.
Waving to passers-by and wishing them a 'Merry Christmas' is the common thread of the advert in which Brendan O’Connor features as he shops on Dublin's Grafton Street.
Barry Egan gets a helping hand from Rosanna Davison in his bit part from South William Street and sports journalists Joe Brolly and Neil Francis also manage to get their 'Merry Christmas' wave in on South Anne Street.
Rachel Allen’s Cork kitchen is where the festive scene concludes as she adds the final decoration, a felt snowman, to her Christmas tree in Ballymaloe House.
“At this time of year it’s important to reflect on the past twelve months, which has seen great results for the Sunday Independent," Geoff Lyons, Commercial Director, Independent News and Media said.
"That is down to the loyalty of our readers and the calibre of our writers. Readers of the Sunday Independent have a very personal relationship with its writers, and we wanted to take this opportunity to wish all of them a Merry Christmas.”
