Tesco Mobile services resume after nationwide outage

Some Tesco Mobile customers have been hit by an outage that has prevented them from making calls, sending texts and using the internet.

The outage was caused by a fibre optic break on Tuesday morning.

According to Tesco Mobile, the network has been restored and the majority of customers are reconnected.

"A small number of customers may still experience some intermittent issues in the coming hours as the network restores to full capacity," a spokesperson confirmed.

"We’re really sorry for the inconvenience caused and thank customers for their continued patience."

Disruption to services were reported nationwide in areas including Dublin, Laois, Sligo and Cork.

A spokesperson for Tesco Mobile told "Third party damage to the fibre optic network for Three Ireland, who supply network services to Tesco Mobile and other operators, has led to intermittent disruption of voice calls and SMS services for some customers today.

"Our service providers continue to work hard to fully restore the damage caused to the network."
