Independent News and Media (INM) has announced that Terry Buckley is stepping down as a director with effect from May 31 2018. He has been a director since 2012.

Mr Buckley had indicated ahead of the group’s most recent annual general meeting that he planned to stand down, but the company had requested he stay on in order to help meet a UK Corporate Governance Code quota of independent non executives.

INM chairman Murdoch MacLennan said: "I'd like to express my appreciation to Terry for the independent perspective and significant commitment he brought to the role during his six years as a director".

It is the second board level exit in a week, following last Friday’s resignation of Paul Connolly.
