Having seen off Toys 'R' Us, which exited the €360m Irish toy market after a few months in business, Ireland's largest toy retailer, Smyths Toys, has embarked on a new advertising campaign that highlights the fact that simple back garden activities for kids, can also be some of the most imaginative and creative.

With over 70 stores dotted throughout Ireland and the UK, Smyths is one of the largest retailers in the country and the campaign is currently airing on TV while there is also an online element to it.

Called 'Outdoor Heroes', it was created by the Dublin-based creative and marketing co-operative Therefour while the media buying is being handled by the Galway-headquartered company itself.

The ad sees everything through the eyes of a child with the back garden opening up all kinds of possibilities for adventure and fun. Simple playground toys like a trampoline magically becomes a launch pad for a space adventure while a swing lets them fly through the air.
