A GROUNDBREAKING collaboration between print and digital media on the Anglo Tapes story helped win the Scoop of the Year award for the Irish Independent at the National Newspaper of Ireland Awards.

It was just one of seven prizes for the Irish Independent, the 'Sunday Independent' and Independent.ie as the group again dominated the awards.

Journalist Paul Williams took the award for his Anglo Tapes expose, which captivated readers around the globe.

Readers were also able to log on to Independent.ie to hear the startling conversations from inside the bank that helped bankrupt Ireland.

This crossover between print and online journalism ensured the Independent.ie team won the Digital Award.

The team of Paul Williams, Fionnan Sheahan and Tom Lyons took the prize for their online presentation of the banking expose.

The prize for Best Foreign Coverage went to Jason O'Brien of the Irish Independent and Independent.ie for his coverage from war-torn Syria.

Fiach Kelly won the Political Reporter of the Year award.
