INM names Lyons as its new group marketing director
Geoff Lyons has been appointed group marketing director of the Irish Independent, 'Sunday Independent' and the 'Herald'. The appointment comes as the company seeks to integrate the internet and print titles under new Editor-in-Chief Stephen Rae.
Mr Lyons joined Independent Newspapers as an advertising executive in 1999.
He was promoted to 'Sunday Independent' advertising manager in July 2004 and then became Irish Independent marketing manager. He was promoted to group marketing manager in December 2009.
Mr Lyons will now be responsible for advertising campaigns and promotions for all three titles. "Geoff's appointment follows the integration of our print and digital marketing teams and prepares the ground for our many exciting initiatives in digital," said INM Managing Director Declan Carlyle.
CONFIDENCE IN GERMANY RISES
German business confidence increased for a second month in June amid signs of a recovery in Europe's largest economy.
The Ifo institute's business climate index rose to 105.9 from 105.7 in May.
PROFITS AND SALES SLUMP AT ANDOR
Pre-tax profits at Andor Technology, a Belfast company that makes high-end digital cameras, fell by 22pc to £3m (€3.5m) in the first six months of the year.
Sales slid 10pc to £27.9m as universities and other government organisations cut funding for the type of projects which use Andor's precise cameras which can cost as much as £500,000.
PRODUCTION RISES IN CIRCLE FIELDS
Circle Oil said its Egyptian oil fields are now producing over 11,000 barrels of oil a day.
The Limerick-based company said that gross oil production at its AASE-17 Well and Geyad fields averaged 10,631 barrels of oil a day in May. Shares slipped 0.8pc to 16p in London.
