Godfrey is new chair of Comreg
Alex White, Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources has today appointed Jeremy Godfrey as Chairperson of the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg), the communications watchdog.
Mr. Godfrey has been a ComReg Commissioner since 2013. Prior to that he was Government Chief Information Officer in Hong Kong from 2008 to 2011, has been a partner in PA Consulting Group, has held senior roles in Hong Kong Telecom and the Cable & Wireless Group, and has worked for the UK Department of Trade and Industry.
Announcing Mr. Godfrey’s appointment, Minister White said: “I am pleased to formally announce Jeremy’s appointment as Chairperson. ComReg plays a critical role in regulating the telecommunications and postal sectors and has a key role in creating the environment to optimise continued commercial investment in the sectors. It is also playing a critical role in assisting in the development of the Government’s plans to address the next generation broadband deficit in rural Ireland through the National Broadband Plan.”
