Des Gibson appointed INM Tabloid Platform Editor
Des Gibson has been appointed Tabloid Platform Editor at Independent News and Media.
Des has almost 30 years' experience in journalism and is currently the Editor/Managing Editor at the Irish Daily Star.
The new INM Tabloid Platform Editor will direct a new seven-day newsroom at the Sunday World and Herald newspapers.
Starting out at the Irish Press Group in 1988, Des joined The Irish Daily Star in 1995, where he has enjoyed a number of senior roles including Sports Editor, Managing Editor and most recently, Editor.
He was also previously Head of News at the Tallaght Echo newspaper.
As well as his work for the Irish Daily Star, since 2011, Des has been Publications Manager of Paperweight Publications. He has published and edited 10 books and authored the best-selling sports biography of jump jockey Paul Carberry.

Des is a native of Greenhills in Dublin and lives in Tallaght with wife Antoinette and their four children.
