AIB Corporate Banking has provided €3.5m in funding for a new season of TV series Jack Taylor which is now running on be3, the station formerly known as UTV Ireland. The series was produced by Galway Production Company Telegael in association with ZDF Enterprises (Germany) and Content Media International (USA).

The bank has provided funding for a number of television programmes. In 2016, AIB supported Telegael with lending of close to €15m and backed about 40 projects to date.

Crime series Jack Taylor features an Irish former policeman played by Iain Glen, who also appears in Game of Thrones.

The new series of Jack Taylor comprises three 90-minute films shot on location in Galway City and Connemara last year.

The series is based on the novels by Galway author Ken Bruen, seen by some as the godfather of the modern Irish crime novel. It has developed an international following and is aired in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, US and Canada. The series will also be shown on Netflix.

Telegael, which is based in Spiddal, co Galway, produces live action and animated content.
