Media bites


The Revenue Commissioners is to crack down on high-net-worth tax exiles, questioning them as to why they haven't paid a €200,000 levy that was introduced in 2010 by the Government to extract more cash from non-resident individuals. The Revenue Commissioners has sent letters to a number of individuals it believes meet the criteria for the domicile levy, warning that it will begin full tax audits if required. Just 11 people paid the self-assessed tax in 2011, yielding €1.7m.
