Circulation of the i newspaper peaked at 319,000 on June 29 as the paper continues to increase in readership in the UK since its acquisition by Johnston Press in April.

The company said in a statement this morning that the paper is continuing to exceed expectation as advertising revenue hit its highest point since it was taken over.

"These figures show a further increase from the week of the Referendum, indicating a continued desire for impartial and informative journalism, highlighting the vital role that newspapers play around major milestones for the country," the company said in a statement.

The publishers inews.co.uk broke one million page views per week since its launch in April with Brexit coverage adding to its demand.
