Something strange is happening in the Irish labour market. On the surface, it looks like a workers’ paradise: vacancies are rising, wages are up and the economy is growing.

Recruitment surveys consistently show that more than half of employees are in the market for a new gig, suggesting confidence that new and better jobs are out there.
