Up to 1,500 staff to be laid off today as Topshop, Wallis and Evans among shops to close

UP TO 1,500 staff working at clothing stores including Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Wallis, Dorothy Perkins and Evans will be laid off from 4pm today.

Officials at the Mandate union got confirmation from the Arcadia Group this morning that it is closing due to the coronavirus crisis.

It is understood that staff will get full pay until March 29.

Independent.ie has contacted the Arcadia Group for a comment.
