Jobs buoyant in banking and financial services
The banking and financial services industry is widely expected to experience a post-Brexit jobs bounce.
There is no need for job seekers to wait, as there are plenty of jobs available in the sector right now, says Orla Moran, General Manager of IrishJobs.ie.
“The banking and financial services sector has consistently been one of our strongest job sectors. 15 of the world’s top 20 banks now have operations in Ireland and recruitment is thriving with firms looking for experienced candidates for a range of roles including compliance, audit and risk management.”
The IDA Ireland recently confirmed significant investments in the financial services sector in the first half of 2017, with over 15 global financial institutions announcing their intentions to set up or expand their operations in Ireland since the start of the year.
Certainly announcements about growth and enhancements have been coming thick and fast this year. JP Morgan has bought a new office in Dublin with capacity for 1,000 employees which will double its current payroll here. Bank of America chose Dublin as the preferred location for its principal legal entities while, in June, Northern Trust revealed plans to create an additional 400 new jobs in Limerick.
IDA Ireland’s CEO Martin Shanahan is optimistic that even more banking and financial jobs are on their way to Ireland.
“IDA Ireland is actively working with financial services firms to make them aware of the many advantages there are to doing business here in Ireland. We expect the flow of announcements to continue over the course of the next few months, albeit, they will be hard won.”
