Birr-based Grant Engineering said it would create 50 jobs as it moves to expand its facilities.

The heating appliance maker said the building work will commence in the coming months.

The project involves a €7m investment.

Founder Stephen Grant said the investment will enable the company to “continue to increase capacity and expand into new markets and to develop new products.

“It also reinforces our commitment to innovation, the local community and the local economy,” he added.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny is visiting the facility as part of the announcement.
