Ninety new jobs have been unveiled at an engineering company in Co Donegal.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar was on hand to announce the jobs at the E+I plant in Burnfoot, Buncrana.

Speaking at the announcement Mr Varadkar said the jobs were representative of the type of economic development the Government wants to support.

He said the Government want to see "Irish companies growing from the bottom up and going global".

Philip O'Doherty, MD of the company, underlined the companies do not need to be based in big cities to expand globally and create jobs. He said the company's north west base has not been a disadvantage for the firm at all.

The jobs announcement is the first of three public engagements the Fine Gael leader is attending during his trip to Donegal.

The Taoiseach will address the media later this morning where it is expected he will face questions on the CervicalCheck controversy and the leaking of findings of the Scally Report.

Victims of the scandal have hit out at the leaking of the report a day before they were due to be briefed.

The report - which has taken four months to complete - is due to go to Cabinet tomorrow.
