Debra Crew has been appointed to the board of Guinness owner Diageo as a non-executive director.

Ms Crew is a former president and chief executive of Reynolds American, a subsidiary of tobacco giant British American Tobacco.

Before joining Reynolds, Ms Crew spent five years at PepsiCo, where she served as president of its North America Nutrition division, as well as president of its Americas Beverages and Western Europe divisions.

Prior to PepsiCo, she held positions, from 1997 to 2010, with Kraft Foods, Nestlé, and Mars.

Ms Crew currently serves on the boards of Stanley Black & Decker, Newell Brands, and Cadbury-owner Mondēlez.

Diageo chairman, Javier Ferrán, said: "I am delighted that Debra is joining the Diageo board.”

"Her expertise in fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and experience as a former CEO will add to and complement the current board and will serve Diageo well as we continue to progress on our journey to achieving our ambition to become one of the most trusted and respected consumer products companies in the world.”
